  • Having toys as part of a collection may result in parents or caregivers perceiving the library as a baby-sitter and leaving children unattended.

  • May need additional maintenance such as cleaning and disinfecting after each use.

  • Individual pieces of a toy may get lost or broken. A toy with a lot of small parts will may require frequent replacement parts.

  • Will get soiled and worn  after many uses.

  • Spread germs.

  • Toys in a public library are sometimes considered to be a distraction. Libraries often have to deal with the issue of children who come to do homework but start playing instead.
